Elizabeth Stephenson, employment solicitor at Pattinson & Brewer in London, has been appointed an Associate to the firm in recognition of her success in work-related actions on behalf of employees’ rights.

Elizabeth said she was very pleased to have had her work acknowledged in this way:

”I act for employees in a wide range of tribunal claims, ranging from discrimination and unfair dismissal to breach of contract and TUPE. I feel lucky to also be able to work with the trade unions themselves to ensure that their members are well-informed and their rights are protected as far as possible. I think the way people are treated at work is central to their self-esteem and sense of well-being, and that the protection of employees’ rights benefits society itself.

I welcome the opportunity to take this next step with a firm that has a wonderful heritage and a great success record for going the extra mile for our clients.”

Liz studied English and Theatre Studies at Leeds University before completing both the post-graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course, with distinction. She qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and joined Pattinson & Brewer in 2007.

Managing Partner Frances McCarthy was impressed with the way in which Liz had swiftly adapted to her role.

Liz has a special interest in claims brought by union representatives. She has advised unions on issues relating to trade unions’ rights and obligations, and has successfully concluded a number of multiple-claimant cases for union members. She is a talented lawyer working in the highly sensitive area of industrial and employee relations, and we are delighted to be able to recognise her talent and abilities by appointing her as an Associate from 1st October”.

Liz Stephenson is currently a member of Unite the Union, the Labour Party, the Industrial Law Society and the Employment Lawyers Association.
