V (a minor) –v- Kensington and Chelsea Primary Care Trust – Failure to diagnose fracture to the wrist. Damages: £12,000
Accidents Leading to Patient’s Death
B -v- Drs Carter and Skinner Over prescription of Warfarin resulting in the Claimant’s death. Case settled following the Inquest where the Coroner made a recommendation to the Defendants to change their working practices (one of the first cases, if not the first, to apply the House of Lords Judgement in the case of Middleton). Damages £15,000
P -v- Dr Huq General practitioner failed to advise patient of test result confirming skin cancer for two years which resulted in the patient’s death. Damages £158,000.
E -v- Whipps Cross Hospital Failure to diagnose and treat cervical cancer leading to patient’s death. Damages £100,000.
R -v- St Mary’s Hospital Post operative complications involving intubation resulting in the death of the patient. Damages £35,000.
D -v- High Wycombe Hospital A fatal case involving failure to diagnose an embolus. There were difficulties in establishing what difference would have been made by an earlier diagnosis. Settled just prior to trial date, involving an infant settlement approval hearing. Damages £130,000.

J -v- Barnett & Chase Farm NHS Trust Mistakes made in the delivery of a new born baby who was subsequently diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy

P -v- Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Failed to diagnose foetal abnormality. If the claimant had been advised of diagnosis pregnancy would have been terminated. Child born disabled. Damages £325,000.
Brain Damage
G –v- Myers Ebner and Deaner, a firm Negligent medical treatment led to loss of large part of bowel. Further negligence occurred in that the hospital failed to realise that the patient was unable to digest drugs essential to control epilepsy and this resulted in the patient suffering brain damage. Professional negligence action as a result of Defendant’s negligence claim being struck out. Damages: £750,000

J –v- St Mary’s Hospital NHS Trust Negligent treatment during the course of the Claimant’s birth resulting in the Claimant sustaining brachial plexus (Erbs Palsy) resulting in injury to the shoulder/arm. Damages £100,000
M –v- St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust Negligently used forceps resulting in the infant Claimant suffering facial scarring. Damages £23,000
Failure to Diagnose and Misdiagnosis
A -v- National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust and St. George’s Hospital NHS Trust Failure to diagnose spinal injury in cyclist injured in a traffic accident. Settled just before trail. Damages £1.5 million
C -v- Royal Free Hospital Failure to diagnose spinal injury resulting in greater disability. Settled just before trial. Damages £1.4 million
C -v- South London & Maudlsey NHS Trust, Bromley Hospital NHS Trust & Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Failure to diagnose and treat a burst fracture of the spine. Settled just before trial. Damages £600,000
C -v- The London Hospital Failure to diagnose spinal injury following a road traffic accident. Complex causation issues in relation to causes of disability were resolved at the court door. Damages £550,000.
A -v- Northwick Park Hospital Failure to diagnose ruptured spleen. Injuries included hemiplegia (Full or partial paralysis of one side of the body due to disease, trauma or stroke) and other serious abdominal problems. Damages £500,000
P -v- Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Failed to diagnose foetal abnormality, cloacal exstrophy, which occurs one in every 400,000 live births. If the claimant had been advised of diagnosis the pregnancy would have been terminated. Child born disabled. Following a successful three day trial £325,000 damages awarded.
B -v- University Hospitals Coventry NHS Trust Failure to diagnose and treat arterial injury in leg within the window of opportunity resulting in above knee amputation. Damages £300,000. No Win No Fee Case.

The case had been neglected by a firm of solicitors until taken over by Pattinson & Brewer. The case settled when the claimant was 21 years old, some 12 years after the injury. Total damages £36,000
